Our next day trip was to Fussen, to see the Neuschwanstein Castle. This was a day trip that was completely unplanned from home and the only reason we made it here was from a passing conversation with a girl in our hostel! We mentioned Disney, and she mentioned this castle and how it inspired the Walt Disney Castle. I HAD to see it. So we made plans to take a day trip there and it was not in vain.
We arrived somewhat tired from the previous nights festivities, but determined to make the most of it. In order to get to the castle, you have to take a VERY steep hike, or hire a horse drawn buggy. We wanted to enjoy the scenery to hike it was. It was really steep, you would think weeks of hauling around a backpack would prepare you for this, but it did not at all. However we made the most of it by dancing around, singing and just being goofy over all.
Finally we made it to the top for a breath taking view of the castle, and then proceeded to join the tour going around and continued to be awed and amazed by every detail inside! The history on the castle is very interesting and I encourage you to look it up, or better yet, visit yourself. We took a few photos, but the two shared in here that are outsourced display this castle far better then mine.
After our tour around, it was time to head back to the train station to head home for hot showers and comfy beds. The hike down was a lot easier needless to say, and soon we were on our way home to Munich, tired but filled to the brim with good memories.
All of the days on my Europe adventure were wonderful but some stood out more then others. This day was very special to me, and I will treasure it forever. There is not one particular reason that I can say that, but I just know that I am filled with warm thoughts when I think of our day trip the castle and how much fun we had on our hike there and up. Sometimes the best moments are the silly ones with your friends where you forget about your woes and just breathe in life.
