The Europe Trip: Paris!-2

Europe 2 109

Last week I talked about how we were very fortunate enough to spend a week in Paris, living it up like Parisians. We could not have asked for a better set up for a time here in this incredible city. Of course, we did do some very touristy things here as well.

Like visit and walk around the Arc de Triumph…

One thing I really recommend is buying their metro passes. It is the best way to get around the city and can save money in the long run.  It made it a lot easier to get around to all these sites on a daily basis.

Spent an ENTIRE day at Versaille, one of my favorite places in the world to visit. No matter how many times I go, I never get bored here.  I love the decadence of the palace and the endless beauty of the gardens. We hacked the long line by having one person wait in line for the gates, and two of us went to get tickets. The timing was perfect as we got the tickets just as Caitlin got to the front of the gates. We walked around the whole a place and then spent some time in the gardens and at Marie Antoinette’s hamlet.

Our last day we got up said our goodbyes and then headed off to to explore the Louvre before our flight to Dublin that evening. I have a funny relationship with the Louvre, I get excited to go, and then get tired really quickly while there. I would like to go once with an art major, just to see what they see and then perhaps I would appreciate it more. However I think, staring at art for hours is just not my thing.

After five hours at the Louvre, we were ready to head to the airport and say goodbye to our amazing week in Paris.

Paris will always be a city I will love to come back. There is so much I have yet to see, and so many sides of Paris I have yet to experience. As well, I only discovered the joy of macaroons a few years ago, so visiting the macaroon shops is number one on my Paris hit list next time. Until next time, au revoir Paris.
