Vee’s Book Nook: January

I spent most of January finishing Man in the Iron Mask! It took me longer than I thought to get through, and I just sadly did not enjoy it, but oh well.

Some other books I read this month:

All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr: My second book gift! This is a story about a blind girl forced to flee Paris during the Nazi occupation, and a german boy with a passion for radios growing up in the Nazi regime. An interesting way to read about two sides of history, and how easy it is to be connection. Highly reccomend!

Queen of Someday: The Stolen Empire Series by Sherry D. Ficklin: An interesting dramatic retelling of Catherine the Great’s teeange years in Russian court. I love how fiesty and take charge Sophie is, and am interested to see how her story progresses in this tale. Will continue to read the rest of the series.

Talented by Sophie David: A quick disappointing read. Another case of a good base idea that was not developed throughouly. A story about the world being divided into people with genetic mutations (talents) and people without. (Very X-Men base). The story could have been good, but it was mostly focused on the main character teeange girl antics and not about the dystopian world it has set up. I guess I get what I pick though!

Raging Dawn by Colleen Gleason: Yay, I have officially read all the Gardella legacy books that are out there. This book is a bit of an interlude towards the Roaring Shadows series, giving a bit of intel on the father of the main character. Just as good as any of her books 😀

A close on another month of good reading 🙂
