Two years ago today I hopped on a plane with a one way ticket to London, with no intentions of looking back. Cue a jump forward, and here I am, settled back into life in Calgary, AB, Canada, happier than I have ever been.
It’s really funny how life works out sometimes.
I’ve been home 8 months, and since then I have made leaps and bounds into having the life I wanted. Which means what exactly? Well here is a little catch up for you.
It took over two months for me to find a job, which was not in the plan. I came home to a struggling economy and my arrogance turned to humbled rather quickly in regards to finding work. However, I was patient (somewhat) and I eventually did find a full time position and after a while of temping, was hired on by the company. It has kept me busy since November. I must add that I am so thankful that I have wonderful parents who have supported me in my transition time.
I have also been working hard since February, on developing my own business. My time in London helped me to realize that I would never be happy with a conventional job or career path, and that my passion for life requires me to push an entrepreneurial spirit. The seed for this big plan was planted near the end of my time abroad, and I have been slowly working on it since coming home. My original intentions for that business have shifted a bit, but the heart of it remains the same. I can’t wait to share more details.
I have gotten to spend lots of time with my family and friends. That has been amazing, and something I will never take for granted. Being able to just have a quick coffee with my Dad, or a movie night with my Mom instead of a Skype visit, has made me so happy. It has been exciting to catch up and re connect with friends, as well make some new friends since I’ve been home.
Something very exciting that has been happening since I got home has been performing Maid of Honour duties! Caitlin gets married in less than a month, and I have been making up for lost time since I landed. From dress shopping, to throwing bridal parties to cutting out invites, it has been a blast to be helping Caitlin with her big day first hand.
Lastly, the fall also brought me down an unexpected path. In October, I met someone. The kind of someone that makes waking up everyday with a smile so very easy. My life shifted, for the better, since meeting Corey and I can only imagine how much better its going to get. From the get go, life with him has been an instant happy exciting adventure. I’m so looking forward to the more to come.
Because of all of this, I have been busy, so busy that if I stop to think about it, I have to catch my breath. I had hoped to keep up with this blog in a better fashion, but it has fallen to the wayside since the fall. The good news is that I have mostly been busy with many fun and happy things, so the time is flying by at an alarming rate because nearly everyday bring some exciting activity or little adventure.
As for travel plans, there will be lots of camping and touring the west coast this summer. As well as ending the summer with a trip to Vegas! Stay tuned for some bigger travel plans for the new year 😉
All of this has accumulated in living a very fulfilled and extraordinary life. The biggest thing I can say since coming home is that everyday has truly been bringing me closer and closer to my something more than planned.
