An Epic Vist in Rome

Rome with Calais was a great adventure! Our three days there was the perfect amount, and I had the best second visit to Rome. We spent three very hot days exploring, eating, walking, shopping and all around enjoying everything the Eternal City had to offer.

My biggest takeaway from our visit was The Vatican! It was highly worth spending half the day there. It was also worth it to get tickets ahead of time to skip the line (and avoid all the annoying ticket sellers on your walk to the Vatican). We made sure to thoroughly tour the museum which was full of incredible art pieces, however nothing compared to visiting the Sistine Chapel! Just as amazing as everyone said it would be.

While we explored many sides of Rome, including the Vatican, shopping, Colosseum, Roman Forum, dining and hunting for art galleries, by far my favourite moment was spent during an evening at The Trevi Fountain people watching, listening to the fountain and making wishes. A moment Calais and I will never forget.

While in Rome we stayed at Alessandro hostel, which was great for a good location by the main train station, and with a good social scene. We joined in on the hostel pub crawl, and had a great time! I would recommend Alessandro hostel for a trip to Rome.

Of course the best, best part was all the amazing food! From pasta to pizza to risotto to cheeses to gelato to wine to cappuccinos, the options were endless! You can be sure that we enjoyed all of the above and then some!

Rome is without a doubt my favourite city to visit. There is something very special in the history and romantic atmosphere of Rome that I have never experienced in any other city. Once again, I look forward to the day I get to return.
