Calgary Stampede Foodie

If you know anything about Calgary, it would be that every year the city goes country cowboy crazy for about 10 days. We like to celebrate some of our heritage by throwing what is basically a big party with our cowboy hats, country music, rodeos and deep fried goodies.

My favourite thing and main motivaiton to attend Stampede is the food experiences every year. There are always crazy new things to try, and you will typically find me working my way through all these food items throughout the day.

There are always some crazy new items out for the brave hearted to embrace, such as the worlds hottest pizza or deep fried chicken feet, and there are always the usual favourites like corn dogs and deep friend oreos. I like to mix it up with some new items and the good old classics.

This year I tried:

Chili Lime Popcorn Shrimp Perogies, Classic Rootbeer, Deep Fried Bacon Wrapped Pickle Ball, Unicorn Cookie Dough, Roasted Corn on the Cob, Deep Fried Coffee, Halibut Fish Tacos, Taco in a Bag, Ruby Lemonade and Funnel Cake.

There was of course many more items on my list to try, but at some point I had had enough deep-fried goodness. At least there is always next year! While I don’t partake in a lot of the Stampede activities (just not my thing) I always like to spend a day having a foodie adventure around the grounds, popping in here and there for an activity, just to give my stomach a break of course!

The best part of all is that is makes for a great chance to make memories while sharing all the tasty treats with friends.
