Vee’s Book Nook: July & August

I got to read a bit more during the summer, thanks to finishing War & Peace, and being on holiday!

Torn & Ascend by Amanda Hocking: The last two books in the changeling series that I really enjoy.  These books are just filled with a fun magical story, that mixes humorous and interesting characters in a modern day fairytale like setting. And of course who does not love a happy ending?

Sweet Far Thing: Libba Bray: The last book in the Great and Terrible Beauty series, concluding the girls’ time at boarding school and their journey with the realms. The ending of this series is both heart breaking and liberating – it always moves me to tears. I have always enjoyed this series because not only is it a great adventure, but it also leaves me with a sense of empowerment as a woman.

The Masked Man by B J Daniels: A quick little romance novel I read in between some more intense books. A little bit of a far fetched suspense romance story set in Montana, featuring a baker and a private investigator who get tangled up in a murder mystery after one night of mistaken identity and passion. It was an entertaining and a quick read.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho: This has been a book that has been on my reading list for ages, and I finally got around to purchasing it. It was worth the wait, and worth the hype. If you need some reaffirmation in your life that you are exactly where you need to be, then I highly recommend this book.

Currently I am reading Moby Dick, which has been quite the experience already. I got a library card for the fall season, and I can’t wait to use it!
